17-05-15 Day 37

Harrodsburg, KY to Berea, KY

Busy day for us cyclists, we picked up our latest box from Wilderness Trace Family YMCA, in Harrodsburg this am.  Met Layne Elliott, who had received the box to her surprise.   Our initial contact person no longer works for the YMCA so Layne was waiting for guidance on the box that was received.  After a brief discussion and few laughs, we changed out supplies and were ready to hit the road.

Thank you Layne for your assistance today.
Sorry for the surprise package.
All worked out well ☺

Not to far outside Harrodsburg we met two west bound riders.
Biff (from VA Beach area yellow helmet) and Alex (from Belgium).
Traded war stories and were warned about
Dogs in eastern Kentucky.
We made it to Berea safely today, although temps were in the low 80s.  Karen is hoping for cooler weather.  We had the pleasure of company for dinner this evening.  Dover classmate, Jeff Rice and his wife Candice drove from Cincinnati, KY to meet us.  What a great honor to see them and chat.  They truly went out of their way to make this happen and we are grateful for their efforts and time.

All smiles after dinner, thank you Jeff and Candice
for making the trip.  It was really nice to meet
Candice and see a familar Dover, PA grad on our travels.

We are reconsidering some route options this evening based on the information received from several riders over the past few days concerning dogs on the route.  We reached out to local police for knowledge, but they recommended the Sheriff's Department which is County wide.  We have both decided that vicious dogs are not something we prefer to deal with at this time in our journey. Will keep you posted on our decision moving forward.
