17-05-08 Day 30

Summersville, MO to Pilot Knob, MO
Pilot Knob, MO to Farmington, MO

As you may notice there are two destinations listed above.  We departed Summersville this am @ 7:30 am.   Our destination today was  Farmington, MO.  We had the privilege of riding the Ozark's today or I should mention the past 3 days actually.  Today was a true challenge, with numerous up and downs from mountain tops to river levels.  Which means you climb to drop down then climb back out, I did not realize how many waterways were part of the Ozark Scenic waterways.  Part of the trek was on Route 106 which is actually closed due to flood damage.  Fortunately we were able to navigate on the bikes.  Thanks to the info from our fellow cyclists the day before 👍.  Spent the morning climbing as well as the majority of the afternoon.  My fellow York, PA cyclists would appreciate this analogy - similar to climbing Copenhafer numerous times.

Eminence, MO

Entering Ozark National Scenic Riverways,
we were smiling at that point.
Randy finishing the ascent on a closed portion of Route 106,
unfortunately viewers cannot see the hill we just traversed.

One of our prolonged tiered climbs.
While riding, we saw numerous turtles crossing the road.  Randy would stop periodically and assist them with safe crossings.  The ones on the downhill descents were on their own.

I had reached out yesterday to a Warm Showers person in Farmington in the event we needed assistance.  Nathan turned out be a great resource.  He and his daughter met us in Pilot Knob and gave us a 20 mile ride to Farmington.  We dropped our bikes off at Trans Am Cyclery for service and then we were dropped at local hotel (Tradition Inn). All thanks to Nathan's assistance.  By the way Nathan's daughter Anna lost her first tooth today 🤗, exciting news!

Thank you Nathan for your assistance today.
With our bikes getting much needed service we are taking a day off tomorrow to recuperate as well.  Been in the saddle 7 days, looking forward to the remaining days of our journey.
